![]() Output that to DXF and you'd have a better result. ![]() If you were experienced in Serif you could re-create the logo from scratch in about an hour or less. I'd say about four to six hours cleaning you could get something acceptable for an engraved logo on metal. When I scanned the image it wasn't oriented perfectly in the scanner so horizontal lines came out at an angle (jagged) which increased the entity count substantially.Īs the DXF was you could probably route an acceptable large wood sign that was to be viewed from a distance.Ībout an hour of cleaning up the DXF the line count dropped to 12,000. Using only the default autotrace parameters I got a DXF with 18,000 entities (short line segments). For example, a drawing program like CorelDraw exports the outlines of the drawing with the AutoCAD POLYLINE entity, while a 3D program might only export 3DFACE. Loading the JPG I used the autotrace function in Serif to create a DXF. ![]() I loaded an old copy of Serif Draw Plus X4 (current version is X6, $99, quite a bargain as graphic design software goes).įor a test to get up to speed on the program I scanned the Haas Racing logo, 1-1/2" x 4" to a JPG format.
